HIGHLIGHTED PAST EVENTS

Indian Youth Career Day

College preparation and career option workshops were presented, along with booths featuring college recruiters and representatives providing career information. This event was put together by the following school districts: Yukon, Putnam City, Mid-del, OKCPS, Moore, Norman, Edmond, and El Reno and was for all Native American high school students.

Potawatomi Nation College and Career Fair

Several YHS students attended the WZHITAWEN (WISH-ED-TAH-WIN) (he or she prepares) 7th annual Native American College and Career Fair with the Potawatomi Nation in Shawnee.  The students attended over 50 booths and talked to colleges and tribes about the information each had to offer.  Morning snacks and door prizes were given out all morning.  The YHS students who attended were seniors Ellie Bollenbach (Choctaw), Rena Henson (Caddo), Trinity Little (Kickapoo), Taylor Perdue (Cherokee), and Genevieve Frerichs (Cherokee). 

The Cheyenne & Arapaho College and Career Day

The Cheyenne and Arapaho education department held their college and career day at Redlands Community College   This was for C&A tribal students only where they listened to speakers, had lunch and walked through the college fair.

Chickasaw Student Education Day

A A group of YHS Chickasaw students attended the 1st Chickasaw Education Day held at their Community Center in Bethany.  Students took part in an ACT workshop and learned about the different programs offered to Chickasaw students. They were able to discover programs and assistance to help them on their educational path.
